Hypnotherapy for sleep and insomnia in Halifax, Bradford and West Yorkshire

Fall asleep more easily, stay asleep and wake feeling more rested. The word hypnosis comes from the Greek hypnos, meaning sleep, but hypnosis itself is a state of focused attention, not sleep.

Sleep and stress are closely linked. When the mind is busy and stress levels are high it is harder to switch off, and poor sleep then makes everything feel harder the next day. Solution focused hypnotherapy helps break that cycle by lowering stress during the day and building calmer habits at bedtime.

UK advertising regulators accept that hypnotherapy can aid sleep. The NHS says insomnia usually improves by changing sleeping habits and that a GP can advise on further help. Hypnotherapy can sit alongside that advice. Every client receives a clinical self-hypnosis track to listen to at home, and many find it helps them settle and drift off more easily.

I help clients from Halifax, Shelf, Brighouse, Bradford, Calderdale and across West Yorkshire, at the clinic or online.

Questions and answers

Hypnotherapy for sleep & insomnia: your questions answered

Can hypnosis help you sleep?

Many people find it does. UK advertising regulators accept that hypnotherapy can aid sleep, and lowering stress plus a regular self-hypnosis routine often helps people fall asleep more easily. Research in this area is still growing and results vary between people.

Can hypnotherapy help with insomnia?

It can help with the stress, worry and racing thoughts that often keep insomnia going. The NHS recommends improving sleep habits, and your GP can advise if it continues. Hypnotherapy can be used alongside this.

Is sleep hypnosis the same as hypnotherapy?

Not quite. Sleep hypnosis recordings online are general, one-size-fits-all tracks. Hypnotherapy is tailored to you, combining solution focused talking therapy with hypnosis, and includes a clinical self-hypnosis track to use at home.

When should I see a GP about sleep problems?

The NHS advises seeing a GP if changing your sleep habits hasn't worked, if you've had trouble sleeping for months, or if it's affecting your daily life in a way that makes it hard to cope. Loud snoring or interrupted breathing while asleep can be a sign of sleep apnoea, so mention it to your GP.

Will I fall asleep during hypnosis?

No. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, not sleep, and you stay aware throughout the session. At bedtime, using your self-hypnosis track as part of your routine can help you drift off afterwards, which is the point.

How many sessions help with sleep?

Some people notice better sleep within a few sessions, especially when they use the self-hypnosis track regularly. You decide how many sessions you have.
