What I help with / Low mood & motivation

Hypnotherapy for low mood and motivation in Halifax, Bradford and West Yorkshire

Rediscover your drive. Shift your focus from what feels wrong to what you want your life to look like, and build the momentum to take small steps towards it.

When mood is low, the brain tends to get stuck on problems. That drains energy, makes small tasks feel huge and chips away at motivation. Solution focused hypnotherapy turns the focus around: by concentrating on your best hopes and the strengths you already have, it helps you notice progress and build more positive, energised patterns of thinking.

Each session combines solution focused conversation with hypnosis, a state of focused attention (not relaxation or sleep) that helps new perspectives settle in. It is practical and forward-looking rather than going over the past. I see clients from Halifax, Northowram, Queensbury, Brighouse, Bradford and across Calderdale and West Yorkshire at my clinic in Shelf, and online.

Low mood is something everyone experiences at times. Depression is a medical condition, and hypnotherapy does not replace the care of your GP or mental health team. If you have been diagnosed with depression, hypnotherapy can sit alongside that support, and I will always encourage you to keep your GP informed.

Low mood & motivation

Areas I can help with

Persistent low mood

Feeling flat, joyless or stuck for a while. We focus on small, achievable changes that start to lift the day-to-day, alongside any support from your GP.

Lack of motivation

When you know what you want to do but can't get going. Sessions help you reconnect with what matters to you and find the energy to act.

Procrastination

Putting things off is often a stress response rather than laziness. Lowering stress and rehearsing getting started in hypnosis makes action feel easier.

Feeling stuck after a life change

Divorce, redundancy, retirement, children leaving home or moving area can leave you unsure of your direction. We clarify what you want next and build the confidence to move towards it.

Adjusting after loss

Grief is a natural process, not a problem to fix. Hypnotherapy can help with the stress, poor sleep and loss of motivation that often come with it, at a pace that suits you.

Low energy and burnout

Running on empty for too long affects mood, sleep and concentration. Sessions help you rest properly, reset priorities and rebuild energy.

Winter low mood

Shorter days can affect mood and energy for many people. We work on routines, motivation and energy. If symptoms are severe or return every year, speak to your GP about seasonal affective disorder.

Questions and answers

Hypnotherapy for low mood & motivation: your questions answered

Can hypnosis help with low mood?

Many people find solution focused hypnotherapy helps them feel more positive and motivated, because it focuses on strengths and the future rather than problems. It is not a treatment for depression and works best alongside your GP's care if you have a diagnosis.

Can hypnotherapy help with depression?

UK advertising rules treat depression as a serious medical condition, so I don't claim to treat it. If you have been diagnosed with depression, hypnotherapy can be used alongside your GP or mental health care to help with stress, sleep and motivation. If you are struggling to cope, please contact your GP, NHS 111 or Samaritans on 116 123.

Is hypnotherapy suitable if I take antidepressants?

Usually, yes. Hypnotherapy can work alongside medication. Keep your GP informed and never change or stop medication without their advice.

Can hypnotherapy help with procrastination?

Yes, for many people. Procrastination is often driven by stress and fear of getting it wrong. Sessions help lower that stress and rehearse getting started, so tasks feel more manageable.

How is solution focused hypnotherapy different from counselling?

Counselling often explores past experiences in depth. Solution focused hypnotherapy is future-focused: we look at what you want, what is already working and the next small step, then use hypnosis to reinforce that progress.

Who shouldn't have hypnotherapy?

NHS guidance advises not using hypnotherapy if you have psychosis or certain types of personality disorder, and to check with a GP first if you have a personality disorder. If any of these apply, please speak to your GP before booking.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. Online sessions by secure video work well for most people and are available across West Yorkshire and the UK, as well as in clinic in Shelf near Halifax and Bradford.

Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy and does not replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Please see your GP about any health concerns. If you are in crisis, call NHS 111, 999 in an emergency, or Samaritans on 116 123.
